How I Got Here

My journey to here…

I got a journalism degree.
I was an assistant editor at Simple Minds singer Jim Kerr’s internet business.
I worked for a business that made audio shows for airlines.
I worked at music retailer HMV.

At 24, I took a pay cut to intern at BMG Records.
I rose through BMG, Sony BMG and Sony Music.
I'd already been made redundant twice.
I worked at Metropolis Studio, then EMI Music.
I became Business Development Director for Europe’s biggest merch distributor.
I worked at a creative agency making products for PlayStation.
I brought big businesses to Groupon.
I was often the only woman in the room throughout my career.

I moved to LA.
I retrained as an executive coach.
I gave pro bono coaching to women made redundant from music.
I became a certified, ICF-accredited coach.

I moved to New York.
I built a specialist coaching business for experienced women in music.
I’ve coached over 80 women across the industry.
I deliver workshops, speak on panels and partner with music organisations on coaching and leadership development.
I launched Off The Record, spotlighting a brilliant woman in music each week.

Today, I help experienced women in music get clear on what they want and back themselves to go after it.

I love what I do.

Careers aren't linear.

The setbacks and wrong turns don’t always make sense at the time.
