What actually happens in a coaching session?

Recently, a few women have asked me a simple question:

What actually happens in coaching sessions with you?

It made me realise that while I often write about the music industry and the women I work with, I rarely explain what coaching with me actually looks like.

So today I thought I’d pull the curtain back a little.

Who I work with

I’m a Certified Coach (CPCC, ACC) and former music industry executive with over 20 years inside major labels, merch and business development.

I work 1:1 with experienced women in the music industry who are trusted in their roles but sometimes find themselves second guessing their voice, carrying a lot of responsibility, or quietly wondering what comes next.

They want clarity, confidence and the ability to lead in their own way.

My career clarity framework

Over the years I’ve noticed many women move through a similar journey when they start coaching.

They begin by untangling what feels stuck, rebuild trust in themselves, get clear on what they want next, and finally move forward with confidence.

That’s the journey behind my Career Clarity Framework, which I use to guide my clients through these stages.

What coaching actually looks like

Coaching with me is structured and confidential.

It begins with a welcome questionnaire.

We meet on Zoom.

The first session is 90 minutes.
The rest are 60 minutes.

You can work with me privately, or through your organisation if they invest in coaching.

 How we work together

Six months — The Headliner
Three months — The Support

What we bring into the room

The meeting you replay for hours afterwards.
The pay conversation you’re avoiding.
The pressure to appear calm and capable when you don’t feel it.

We explore your values, interrupt limiting patterns, and strengthen your leadership voice.

Clients often describe clearer thinking and greater confidence in bigger conversations. Whether that’s renegotiating money, stepping into a new role, starting something new, or trusting themselves again.

Over time, women describe feeling calmer, more decisive, and more grounded in their authority.

“Before working with Sarah, I was in a senior leadership position in music but had lost my way.

Working with her helped me reconnect with my confidence and gave me the courage to start my own business.”

— Sara, UK

If this sounds like you, you can book an exploration call and we’ll see if coaching together might be a good fit.

And if your company offers coaching budgets or works with L&D, feel free to introduce me.

Always in your corner,
