Natalie Morrison

Segment Marketing Manager at Yamaha + Host & Co-Producer of ReVoicing the Future, a podcast amplifying women in music.

A moment in your career when you really backed yourself.

“When the idea came to me to start a podcast highlighting women in the music products industry, there was a version of me who was early in my career, terrified to put myself out there, not to ruffle any feathers, and figure it out as I went along.

However, the moment the inkling of the idea hit my brain, it just rolled onto paper in a matter of minutes. I remember texting my friend Steph that I had this idea, essentially seeking validation because initially, I didn't trust myself to go for it and put myself out there.

But in that moment, I just quieted the noise, had no fear, and just went for it. I asked myself, "What am I going to lose?" Lo and behold, Steph got back to me after I pitched the idea, and it was accepted. Steph, without hesitation, said, I'll help you produce it as an audio engineer.

The rest is history.”

One thing you’re proud of in your career.

“I'm really proud of the podcast.

That version of me, I spoke about above, the one with no fear, really saw a gap that could be filled authentically, and over the course of six years, hearing from people in our industry who have been positively impacted by this is exactly why the podcast exists.

Through the years, guests have shared that listeners reached out to them after episodes aired, connections that helped elevate careers, spark new opportunities, and reinforce the power of visibility and representation.

ReVoicing the Future has become a catalyst for inspiration and progress, simply by ensuring women have the seat and the spotlight they deserve. What we love the most is that there is something for everyone.”

Name another woman in music who inspires you, and why.

“This might sound incredibly cliché, but I'm inspired by all the women I have the honor of interviewing.

I can never pick a favorite.

I joke and say that every episode, a piece of wisdom is shared that I needed to hear in that moment.

Right now, if I had to pick one, it would be Stephanie Lamond.

She's been my right hand through everything the past six years. I've watched her really find her footing in the industry and where she feels she can make the most impact, and that's through her therapy work, and that developed from all these conversations we've been fortunate to have over the years.

She just graduated in May with a Master's in Psychology, works for Backline as a clinical fellow, and is building her own practice to help others in the music industry. She truly embodies everything a therapist in this space should be, and I'm beyond inspired and proud of the journey she's been on and continues to be on with this passion of hers."
