A moment in your career when you really backed yourself.
“Honestly, anytime I negotiate a raise, I have to really back myself. It goes against every bone in my body. I’m sure that’s partly because I’m British (!) — talking about money felt a bit crass or taboo.
When I was younger, I used to justify talking myself out of tough money conversations because I loved my job and felt like I should be grateful. But avoiding them made me resent myself, and eventually, my work, which is obviously totally counterproductive.
Women are taught to be “agreeable”, and salary negotiations often don’t go in our favor. While discussing a raise at a previous company, a male manager said I should have been “nicer” and “more smiley” while I was doing it. I doubt he’d have said that to a man....”
One thing you’re proud of in your career.
“We’re about to open a new music venue in Nashville called The Truth.
I started working on it 4 years ago - it’s incredible to watch it come to life in such a major way.
I’m a TINY part of a huge team that’s pulled it together. Blood, sweat and tears.
Miranda Lambert is opening it at the end of September. I will cry!”

“I’m obsessed with Sally Williams, who's President of Live Nation Nashville.
She does it all and has so many strings to her bow.
She has a real backbone, stands up for what she believes in and makes her voice heard, whilst still always listening.
She (and her husband!) have taught me lots about the industry.
