VP, Release Planning & Digital Operations, Sony Music UK

A moment in your career when you really backed yourself.

“This moment was only last year!

I was asked to speak on a couple of panels at ‘Earthfest 2025’.

I’m not a public speaker, I’d never spoken on a panel before, and I was representing Sony Music!  Saying no wasn’t an option.  I knew it was a great opportunity for growth, but I still had to dig deep to say yes.  The morning of the event couldn’t have been wetter, but I managed to arrive relatively unscathed and, to my surprise, I actually enjoyed the experience!

I’d definitely do it again.  If I’d given into my fears, I’d never have known what I’d missed!

One thing you’re proud of in your career.

“The longevity and progression of my career in the music industry :

18 months at EMI Music

37 years at Sony Music this year!

I followed my dream and, just as importantly, stayed true to who I am and my values along the way ...

  • No arse-licking!

  • Be authentic.

  • Be honest, even when it’s not what someone wants to hear.

  • Treat people with respect and compassion.

  • Be trustworthy.

  • Stand up for others and help them shine.

  • Stay determined, keep learning and never lose your energy.

  • Work hard, play harder!”

Name another woman in music who inspires you, and why.

“Without a doubt, Julie Weir, Director of Music for Nations.

Julie is incredibly experienced, open, friendly and supportive.  She understands the entire process of creating products/campaigns and treats everyone involved as though they are part of her own team - always with complete respect.  She works tirelessly for her team, her bands, as well as for charity.

Nothing ever seems too much trouble, she willingly gives her time, as well as elevates others.

Completely selfless.

In the words of Tina Turner - "Simply The Best"!
