MONEY, MONEY, MONEY

Cash, dough, notes, coins, moolah, bucks. Money goes by many names …

Money is often something we learn about long before we earn it.

I didn’t grow up with money.

My parents struggled, and money was often a worry.

That kind of upbringing stays with you.

Even now, I notice how old habits can surface - especially when it comes to spending on myself. Over time, I‘ve learned to have a healthier relationship with money.

What about you - what’s your money mindset?

In my coaching intake questionnaire, I ask clients what they’re earning.

I chose to include this question because for many women, money is something we rarely speak about.

Often, I’m the only person they’ve ever shared that number with, and naming it can be quietly powerful.

From there, we often explore how they feel about that number and what money actually represents for them.

Because money isn’t just about income. It shapes our confidence, our choices, and how we see ourselves.

I coach women earning very different sums of money, and no two relationships with it are the same.

Money mindset isn’t just about numbers.

It shows up in subtle ways, like:

• Avoiding salary conversations because you don’t want to seem “difficult”

• Saying yes to work that drains you because financial security feels shaky

• Holding back on investing in yourself because it feels indulgent

Over time, these patterns don’t just affect your bank balance.

They affect how you see yourself, and what you believe is possible.

This is something I work on a lot with women in music.

Not to “fix” their money story, but to explore it, and help them choose something more supportive.

I wrote more about money, power, and pay in the music industry last year - you can read it below:

Let’s Talk About Money

This piece looks at the gender pay gap in music and the impact this has on women.

I also spoke about negotiating your salary on a women in music panel last year, and I’ve shared a video link here - I hope it’s helpful.

If you’d like to talk about how coaching might support your relationship with money, you can book a chat with me here.

Always in your corner,

Sarah

P.S If a woman in music came to mind whilst reading this, and you think she may find it useful, forward it to her.

Let’s support one another.
